30 years ago today, Michael Jordan made his NBA debut, and in a few days LeBron James will add to his own journey, hoping to eclipse everything the legend achieved. The Chicago Bulls' legend is arguably the greatest player the game has ever seen, and King James is hoping a championship this season for the Cleveland Cavaliers will change the minds of many.

To some, Jordan's debut may seem like it was yesterday, to others it may seem like forever ago, with new talents like James having been around for a long time now. As James approaches the 2014-15 NBA season, many are wondering if he will have a reduced role, or if he will break his back, hoping he can replace, Jordan, the man he idolized growing up.

Coach David Blatt insisted LeBron's future was on his mind, saying: "I don't have a number but I am cognizant of the fact and we are conscious of the fact that, certainly early on 39 minutes a game is a lot. We gotta keep our wits about us in terms of thinking long term with LeBron."

So, will LeBron get a realistic chance to better Jordan, or will he tire before that time comes?

As the new season approaches it's time to look back at a living legend, and now our attention can turn to James, wondering if he or anybody can better the greatest player we've ever seen step out on to the court. Whatever happens, it's going to be fun trying to watch the king trying to better his idol, right?
