Ever wanted to know who was the inspiration behind Coldplay's song a "Sky Full Of Stars?" Lead singer of the British band, Chris Martin just revealed that answer and fans might be surprised. In fact, the muse for the track was none other than our favorite "California Gurl" Katy Perry.

That's right, Perry helped give Martin the inspiration for the hit single. In a new Beat x Beat web video, Gwyneth Paltrow's ex-husband opened up about the ballad and explained how the "Dark Horse" singer's music played a role in the tracks creation.

"I'll tell you the truth: I was listening to a lot of Katy Perry," the front man explained. "A lot of her songs have the same chord sequence the whole time. Your body feels comfortable with them an then the melody's changing on top so there's a groove you really get in to an the also you're kept interested... so I was like, 'that's an amazing way of doing songs."

According to E! News, Martin also explained that the electronic influences in the single came from Perry.

"That song really ended up being inspired by EDM, which some people turn their nose up and then you go to see an EDM thing and people are together and having the best time," the musician explained. "I love that stuff. I wanted to have a song that comes from that world. But in terms of, 'I'd really like to jump up and down to this,' we don't really what we're doing."
