With the first part of the final Hunger Games installment premiering tonight, it looks like a lot of critics are voicing their opinion on whether or not the new flick is worth seeing. Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth all reprise their roles in the film franchise, and some of the biggest critics in the movie business are wondering if it's worth shelling out the money to see the terrific trio.

According to E! News, it seems most sites are taking issue with the fact that the film has been split into two movies. While the material for the films was taken from Suzanne Collins's novel Mockingjay, some reviewers aren't seeing the logic into why it was turned into two standalone features.

Chris Nashawaty from Entertainment Weekly, like many, is questioning the split, saying, "The biggest problem with the new Hunger Games movie is right there in the title: Part 1. Mockingjay, the final installment in Suzanne Collins' best-selling YA trilogy, wasn't conceived in two parts."

He also alludes to the fact that the split was simply for monetary gain. In his words, the film studio was "looking to double down and milk every last dime out of its blockbuster franchise "à la Harry Potter."

One thing that can happen when splitting a novel into two is that the first part will seem like a buildup without a resolution, which is exactly what The Hollywood Reporter's Todd McCarthy said.

McCarthy called the film "an overgrown and bloated trailer for a film yet to come," saying the "blockbuster trilogy wasn't naturally designed to be broken down into two segments."

Vanity Fair's movie critic Richard Lawson, echoed McCarthy's sentiments, saying that the film's "a preamble to the big show."

Despite the negative reviews, we're sure fans of the film are going to show up in droves over the weekend to be the first to see Katniss Everdeen in all her glory.
