Lil Wayne Twitter Rant, Cash Money Records Diss! Heated Fan Apology For 'The Carter V' New Album Release Delay, 'Prisoner Wants Off' Amid Bankrupt Buzz
Apparently, there's no upcoming release date in sight for rapper Lil Wayne's highly-anticipated new album, The Carter V. And the infamous New Orleans emcee is NOT happy about it... and he wants "out" from Cash Money.
Weezy embarked on a heated Twitter rant on Thursday (December 4), apologizing to his anxious fans while simultaneously blasting his own record label:
@LilTunechi: "To all my fans, I want u to know that my album won't and hasn't been released bekuz Baby & Cash Money Rec. refuse to release it."
@LilTunechi: "This is not my fault. I am truly and deeply sorry to all my fans but most of all to myself and my family for putting us in this situation."
@LilTunechi: "I want off this label and nothing to do with these people but unfortunately it ain't that easy."
@LilTunechi: "I am a prisoner and so is my creativity Again,I am truly sorry and I don't blame ya if ya fed up with waiting 4 me & this album. But thk u."
Intense.
Back in July 2012, Weezy claimed that the album would hit stores sometime in 2013. In October of that year, CM Vice President of Promotion Mel Smith tweeted, "Happy Friday!! New YMCMB music coming soon!! Carter 5."
Still, nothing. Finally in February 2014, YMCMB tour-mate Drake tweeted the cryptic message, "CARTER V." Wayne later stated that the release was pushed-back (again) until May 5. But then in March, the rapper's manager Cortez Bryant announced yet another delay.
Speculation went on for months. Fans expected something in August-September, but silence. Finally, Weezy announced ANOTHER official release date - December 9, 2014.
But guess that's not happening now?
And amid all of the drama, these seedy rumors recently went viral online...
Who knows at this point!
So what happens now? Will Weezy just retire from hip-hop, like he keeps saying he will?
Stay tuned as more details develop...
