NBA Draft: Is Jahlil Okafor, Emmanuel Mudiay or Karl-Anthony Towns Going Number 1?

We're still a ways away from the NBA Draft, but it's never too early to speculate about the next superstar. There is no consensus No. 1 pick yet, unlike in recent years, but three players have distanced themselves from the rest of the pack, according to Bleacher Report. Those three players are Duke center Jahlil Okafor, point guard Emmanuel Mudiay, who is playing this season in China, and Kentucky center Karl-Anthony Towns, the top three on ESPN's draft board.

All three players have a ton of size and make scouts salivate with crazy upside. The final decision may depend on what the team drafting prefers — whether they favor a post player or a point guard, and whether or not they favor polish.

Let's dig deeper into each candidate.

Jahlil Okafor — Duke — C

The 6-foot-11-inch, 275-pound Okafor is a dynamic true big man with legitimate scoring and rebounding skills. Through nine games Okafor is averaging 18.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game, to go along with a dominant 1.7 blocks per contest. He's ready to be an offensive and defensive threat right now at the next level, and he's just 19.

Emmanuel Mudiay — China — PG

The Dallas, Texas product took an untraditional route by bypassing college to play in China for $1.2 million at age 18 after he couldn't make the grades to play for SMU. In 10 games for the Guangdong Southern Tigers, the 6-foot-5-inch point guard is averaging 17.7 points per game, despite recently injuring his ankle. Yahoo! Sports reports Mudiay's future in China is uncertain, but he continues to entice and intrigue scouts with his explosive potential.

Karl-Anthony Towns — Kentucky — C

The 6-foot-11-inch freshman came to Kentucky with as much hype as can fit on his clothes hanger shoulders, but has been inconsistent early on for the Wildcats. He was vital to Kentucky's win over No.6 Texas on Dec. 5, but barely contributed against No.21 North Carolina a week later, totaling just two points in 19 minutes.
