Samsung Pays Apple $1 Billion In Nickels, Not Enough Coins To Go Around

Samsung reportedly paid Apple $1 billion in coins on trucks last week.  iPhone maker Apple had won a court case against Samsung and the jury had determined that $1 billion should be paid by Samsung in damaged incurred.  The decision has to be finalized by the judge on September 20 or December 6 before Samsung needs to start making payment.  The payment could turn out to be much more than $1 billion.

The rumors that filled the web reported that over thirty trucks stopped by the Apple headquarters to deliver the first installment of coins.  The story gave people a great laugh and was later proven as a spoof.  The story was actually first written by a website known for writing fake news, the El Deforma.

Many have spoken out to prove why it is not possible and not most efficient to send payment via coins.  One Twitter user calculated that 20 billion coins would not be able to fit into 30 trucks.  It would take more than 2,755 18-wheeler trucks to hold that amount of coins.

Samsung has been sued by Apple for infringing on copyright patents for several of their products including the Samsung Galaxy @ 4G, Galaxy S2 and more.
