Patti LaBelle Lawsuit 2012: Agrees to Pay $100,000 for Harsh Parenting Tirade
R&B songstress Patti LaBelle is currently paying for a rather diva-esque tirade she pinned against a Manhattan mother and daughter back in November 2010. Supposedly during the heated interaction, LaBelle chastised Roseanna Monk (who was holding her 18-month old daughter at the time) for her parenting techniques, ultimately hurling curse-words and a bottle of water at the unsuspecting woman. Now, LaBelle has agreed to pay the Monk family $100,000 in a lawsuit settlement.
According to the lawsuit (which was filed by the former kindergarten teacher and her husband Kevin last year), LaBelle confronted Monk in a NY Trump Place apartment building, where the "On My Own" songstress was residing during her Broadway stint in the musical ''Fela!'' The obscenity-fueled rant included LaBelle hurling water at Monk and her young child.
According to court papers, Monk's now 3 -year-old has suffered "personality changes, sleep disorder" and "increased fear of strangers."
While LaBelle's publicist declined to comment about the settlement, the Monks claim they will donate the $100,000 to a children's cancer charity.
