Fans have been waiting patiently for the Season 5 premiere of Game of Thrones, or even an announcement of when the fifth season would arrive. Now, HBO has released the date.

Game of Thrones Season 5 will premiere on Sunday, April 12.

If any television show deserves a chance to be shown on a movie screen, it's Game of Thrones. The HBO smash hit has all the makings of a great film, from the directing to the special effects to the costumes. And sure enough, Game of Thrones is becoming an IMAX movie! Sort of...

From January 23 to January 29, some IMAX theaters across the country will show the final two episodes of Season 4, which have been remastered specifically for IMAX. To top it off, those who attend will get to see a new trailer for Season 5 in IMAX, as well!

The episodes in question are "The Watchers on The Wall" and "The Children." The former episode featured the great battle with Jon Snow and the Night's Watch against the Wildlings up at the Wall, which would surely be amazing to see in IMAX. The latter episode, the finale, featured the twist of Tyrion murdering his father.

Tickets are available for 150 theaters in the U.S. at www.imax.com.

For the third straight year, Game of Thrones is the most pirated show on television.

Piracy tracking website TorrentFreak reports that Season 4 episodes of the HBO smash hit were downloaded 8.1 million times, which puts Game of Thrones at the top of the list for the third consecutive year. This handily beat AMC's The Walking Dead and CBS' The Big Bang Theory, both of which are ratings juggernauts. The Walking Dead had 4.8 million downloads, while Big Bang came in at 3.9 million.
