Clay Pell Picture: Michelle Kwan's Fiance, Who is He?

Michelle Kwan is engaged to Clay Pell.  We all know who Michelle Kwan is.  She is a Chinese-American skater who is highly regarded as one of the world's most elegant skaters and has won numerous awards for the U.S.  Pell, pictured above, proposed to Kwan over the Labor Day weekend, according to People magazine.

Kwan now works for the U.S. State Department as a public diplomacy.  She also volunteers with the Council to Empower Women and Girls Through Sports.

Her fiancé Pell works at the White House as the director for strategic planning on the National Security Staff.  

Kwan gushed to People about the proposal, "It was a simple decision and it made sense, that's what's so exciting to me.  We are working together as a team, like in [pair skating]."

Pell added, "It was amazing from the very beginning how in sync our way of thinking is, our basic values and our sense of priorities. We just both got each other."

Pell also admitted that he was very nervous about the proposal because he wanted to "do it right."  However, he was fully confident in that Kwan was going to give him a definite yes.

"We had been talking for a while about how we would like to have a family and the idea of getting married and what we wanted to do with our lives - and public service. So I think we both knew where we were relationship-wise and where we were going," explained.

Pell is the grandson of Senator Claiborne Pell who was behind the establishment of the famous Pell Grants offered to college students.
