MStars News has learned that the Broadcast Music Inc., aka BMI, honored gospel greats Israel Houghton, LaShun Pace and The Anointed Pace Sisters at its 16th annual Trailblazers of Gospel Music Awards in Atlanta, last weekend.

We previously reported that Donald Lawrence won most-performed Gospel Song of the Year Honor. Celebrities like SWV's LeLee Lyons, Marcus D. Wiley of The Yolanda Adams Morning Show, Dorinda Clark-Cole, and more showed up for the eOne BMI Trailblazers Kickoff Celebration.

The event was held at the Rialto Center for the Arts, and also gave spotlight to BMI’s Top-Performed Gospel Songs of the Year (2014) that includes:

“1 On 1,” written by Lucius B. Hoskins and performed by Zacardi Cortez; “Clean This House,” co-written by Philip Cornish and Isaac Carree, the performer; “God Will Make a Way,” written by Ay’Ron Lewis and performed by Shirley Caesar; “Here in Our Praise,” co-written by Michael Bethany and Fred Hammond, the performer; and “It’s Working,” co-written by Aaron Lindsey and William Murphy, the performer."

Gospel stars Kim Burrell and VaShawn Mitchell hosted the BMI awards ceremony, and were also helped by Mike O’Neill, the BMI President and CEO, and Catherine Brewton, BMI Vice President Writer/Publisher Relations, Atlanta.

BMI's history of great gospel singers and songwriters includes Kirk Franklin, Fred Hammond, Donnie McClurkin, Yolanda Adams, Jessica Reedy, Marvin Sapp, Twinkie Clark, BeBe Winans, Wess Morgan, and a host of many others.

"It's very different this time around, I've been to many of these events honoring other people...so to be on the other end of that is very strange for me, but very humbling, very flattering, I'm honored to be here," Houghton said in the video below about being recognized this year by BMI.
