Regis Philbin New Show: 'Just a Guy Showing Up' on the Rachael Ray Show
Just when we thought Regis Philbin quit day time television, he was announced as the Rachael Ray show's new monthly co-host. He had quit "Live! With Regis and Kelly" last November and only recently was his position filled by Michael Strahan, resulting in "Live! With Kelly and Michael"
Philbin told USA Today that this new gig is not going to be a daily show like "Live! With Regis and Kelly." He also emphasized that his role is not that big on the show.
"I'm not a co-host, I'm just a guy showing up on her show once a month. I love the idea. It's fun to be back on TV when you don't have to do it every day. I'm not gonna say I don't want to do your show! I think it's fun. I spent my whole life doing this," the 81-year-old said.
He was with his former daytime show for 28 seasons, racking up over 17,000 hours on television. He currently holds the Guinness world-record for the most hours on U.S. television.
He also doesn't plan on retiring anytime soon.
His first "Rachael Ray" appearance will begin on Monday, Sept. 24, 2012.
