Kirstie Alley Kiss: Shocks 'Dancing with the Stars' Host Tom Bergeron After Foxtrot [VIDEO]
Following her debut performance Monday evening on season 15 of the hit ABC reality show "Dancing with the Stars" (All-Stars), actress Kirstie Alley shocked Tom Bergeron (and judges, and audience members, and at-home viewers...) by planting a big, sloppy kiss right smack on the host's lips. Apparently, Alley thought the "romantic" act was totally appropriate following her foxtrot routine with Maksim Chmerkovskiy, considering Bergeron's big Emmy win just the night before. No matter what the reasoning between the impromptu lip-lock, it sure provided for some great entertainment that one can replay again and again on YouTube.
Backstage after the show, Alley supported her kiss motives with this statement: "He won that Emmy, he needed to be rewarded." Indeed, Bergeron was awarded an Emmy for "reality show hosting" at the Sept. 23 event.
The 61-year-old actress claims that the smooch was totally unplanned (one could just tell from Bergeron's shocked and utterly surprised reaction). "You have to take these opportunities and go in for the kill," Alley said.
Check out Alley's debut performance and the hilarious lip-lock that follows here:
Before Alley went in for the kill, the three "DWTS" judges gave her and dance partner Chmerkovskiy's foxtrot rendition rather drab reviews (other than rave comments on Alley's killer sensuality). But it wasn't Alley's dance that got people talking after the show - before Bergeron could finish his hosting spiel, Alley pulled his face in for a kiss that would hit the cyber world by storm. Chmerkovskiy dramtically pulls Alley away offstage, as she yells over to a stunned Bergeron, "That was for your Emmy!"
Chmerkovskiy (who partnered with Alley back in season 12, finishing in second place) thought the lip-embrace was pretty entertaining, to say the least: "What are they gonna do, fire her?"
As for if Bergeron returned the kiss? "He totally had his tongue down my throat. I was like, Tom, hold up, dude, hold up...he sort of wanted it," joked Alley.
Looks like Bergeron can roll with the punches though, he tweeted this along with a pic after the episode:
@Tom_Bergeron: "Winning an Emmy certainly has its' perks! Thanks, @Kirstiealley!"
Whether the infamous "Kirstie Alley kiss" had anything to do with it or not, the dancing duo was saved from the chopping block on Tuesday night's episode. Pam Anderson and partner Tristan MacManus were eliminated in the first round.
