Steve Irwin's Son Follows in Late Father's 'Crocodile Hunter' Footsteps, 8-year-old Bob a 'Natural' at Handling Crocs

It's been six years this month since Steve Irwin, the infamous "Crocodile Hunter," was killed in a freak accident involving a stingray. Now it looks like the late wildlife expert's two young children - 8-year-old son Robert (Bob) and 14-year-old daughter Bindi - are ready to follow in their father's footsteps, with Bob apparently already a "natural" pro at handling small crocs. The two youngsters - along with Irwin's former sidekick and wife Terri - will star in a new Australian reality show entitled "Steve Irwin's Wildlife Warriors" that premieres next month.

Although little Bob hasn't even reached his teen years yet, he is already an avid crocodile fan who assists at the "Crocoseum" at the Australia Zoo in Queensland. The youngster still only holds and plays around with the smaller creatures to help entertain tourists, but it's a big start in evolving his interest in and knowledge of the reptile world (something which his father was involved in so passionately). A recent photo snapped of Bob handling a mini crocodile at the family-owned zoo hit the web this week, sparking interest in just how eerily little Bob so closely resembles his late dad.

While just an infant, Bob rose to fame surrounding a controversial incident when father Steve held him up in the air while feeding a grown crocodile - a photo captured the large reptile lunging for the meat with Bob just inches away. While many criticized Irwin for putting his baby son in such danger, the "Crocodile Hunter" insisted that Robert was perfectly safe throughout the entire interaction.

Older sister Bindi is also involved in the animal entertainment industry - she once hosted her own children's television show and has appeared in some animal-related films. She has also written several books and even recorded a CD with her band The Jungle Girls.

According to Bindi's website, the family's new show "Steve Irwin's Wildlife Warriors" aims to show how Terri, Robert, herself, and the staff at Australia Zoo's Wildlife Hospital and Rescue Unit in Beerwah are continuing the work and legend of the famed "Crocodile Hunter."

Steve Irwin fans should check it out - wife Terri claims that many unseen footage of the 44-year-old doing what he loved best - "crocodile hunting" - will appear on the show: "Steve filmed about 300 documentaries but only 30 made it to free-to-air television in Australia. So we have the capacity to bring forward footage of Steve and incorporate it into continuing his legacy."
