iOS 6 Maps, Release Date: Why Apple Maps Replaced Google Maps
Since iOS 6 released, Apple fans worldwide have been complaining about the new iOS 6 maps app calling it a failure. Apple is very big on customer service, and fans are waiting for the company to come through with a solution.
Previously, Google maps was included in the older mobile operating systems. However, Apple and Google did not come to agreement on one thing, Fox News reported. It was the voice navigation that tore the maps relationship apart.
Apparently, Apple felt shorthanded when Google did not include the voice navigation feature that provides "voice-guided turn-by-turn driving directions" into the Google maps app for Apple products. The important feature was only included in the Android phone, giving it an advantage over the iPhone. As a result, Apple chose to split with their long time mapping partner Google to build their own.
TechCrunch reported that Apple is currently trying to recruit for Google Maps engineers to build their apps.
Most people agree that it was a mistake for Apple to take the sharp turn to remove Google maps causing iPhone users to be stuck with a mediocre maps system.
Apple users are left trying to find their own solution for navigation until Apple comes out with a solution.
