Brian Wilson Fired: Beach Boys Members get the Axe While Still on Tour, Will John Stamos Replace them?

Originally, the 50th anniversary Beach Boys reunion tour this summer proved a huge success, with band mates and fans alike happy to see the remaining original members back onstage together for the first time in what seemed like forever. But looks like those happy summer days have abruptly come to an end - reports have it that founding member Mike Love has given the axe to cousin Brian Wilson, along with guitarists Al Jardine and David Marks. That's three out of the five Beach Boys gone, with Love and vocalist Bruce Johnson the only two remaining. Apparently, Love would like to continue touring in the U.K. with a backup band, hopefully with help from longtime Beach Boys fan John "Uncle Jesse" Stamos.

An official band statement recently issued by Love reads: "The post-50th anniversary configuration will not include Brian Wilson, Al Jardine and David Marks. The 50th Reunion Tour was designed to be a set tour with a beginning and an end to mark a special 50-year milestone for the band." After a few concert stops in London, Love will continue the "Keeping the Summer Alive" tour with his own musician lineup.

Ever since the Beach Boys formed in Cali back in 1961, there have been numerous fights, disagreements, and dramatic falling-outs between the ever-changing band members (past musicians include: Glen Campbell, Ricky Fataar, Blondie Chaplin, and late founding members Dennis and Carl Wilson). Many of the arguments usually involved Love and Wilson. And even though things seemed to be going smooth this summer, it looks like the two are at odds again.

Love has the legal right to oust Wilson, Jardine, and Marks from the band because he has owned the Beach Boys name since 1998 (after a series of drawn-out legal battles following the death of Brian's brother Carl Wilson). Before the 50th anniversary reunion gig, Love continued to tour with his own version of the Beach Boys, along with Johnston and a backing band including his son Christian.

"I'm disappointed and can't understand why he (Love) doesn't want to tour with Al, David and me," said 70-year-old Wilson. "We are out here having so much fun. After all, we are the real Beach Boys."

News of the band's most recent disintegration comes just after the group celebrated the opening of an exhibit dedicated to their five decade career at the Grammy Museum in L.A.

No word yet on whether "Full House" star John Stamos will join the revamped Beach Boys on tour.
