'Mean Girls' Day October 3, Regina George Tweet 'Wear Pink or Die' Sparks 'National Mean Girls Day' Twitter Trend
October 3 will be a day that infamously goes down in "Mean Girls" history - it was this day in 2004 at North Shore High School that Aaron Samuels (Jonathan Bennett) asked Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan) what day it was. "It's October 3," the innocent Heron responds - and "National Mean Girls Day" was officially born. Now in 2012, the Twitter world has even joined in on all the "Mean Girls" day fun, with a tweet posted by a fan page dedicated to everything Regina George (played in the film by Rachel McAdams) reading, @ItsReginaG: "It's October 3rd, National Mean Girls day, AND Wednesday... WEAR PINK OR DIE! #NationalMeanGirlsDay."
"National Mean Girls Day" is extra-special this year because it falls on a Wednesday. In the hit teen film "Mean Girls" - which follows the mega-popular/mean girl-esque high school clique "The Plastics" led by the beautifully cunning Regina George (McAdams) - Wednesday is deemed "pink" day. Those considered "cool" by "Plastic" standards must always wear pink on Wednesday, or else be booted from the popular table at lunch (a lesson well-learned by transfer student Cady Heron). Check out the clip about "pink Wednesdays" (explained by fellow "Plastic" Karen Smith (Amanda Seyfried)) here:
The tweet posted on Twitter by the faux Regina George page (emblazoned with the headline: "Boo, you whore") has already been retweeted almost 8,000 times.

So all you "Mean Girls" fans out there, be sure to hit up Twitter and join in on the #NationalMeanGirlsDay fun before Wednesday, Oct. 3 is officially over (and be sure to sport pink while you're at it!).
