Patrick Swayze's Widow: Lisa Niemi Dating and Looking for Love Three Years After Actor's Death
Actor Patrick Swayze's widowed wife Lisa Niemi has jumped back into the world of dating and is ready to find love three years after her husband's death. Swayze passed away from cancer in 2009. The "Dirty Dancing" star's wife of 34 years is currently seeing jeweler Albert DePrisco.
Niemi's rep confirmed to People magazine that the 56-year-old began dating DePrisco after they were introduced through mutual friends during her recent birthday celebration. The relationship is "new and they are taking it slow."
Niemi first met Swayze back in 1970 - he was 18 and she was a tender 15-year-old dancing student of Swayze's mother. The two were married in 1975 and had no children together. Swayze once admitted that his hit song "She's Like the Wind" was written about Niemi.
Swayze was diagnosed with Stage IV pancreatic cancer in January 2008. Niemi stood by her husband's side when cancer took his life in Sept. 2009. Following his death, Niemi spoke about her healing process with People in 2010: "I know I'm stronger now. The fact that I've had some good days definitely gives me hope that I can have more." In October 2011, Niemi unveiled Swayze's wax sculpture at Madame Tussauds in Hollywood - at the time she reflected on her love for her late husband:"It became clear to me that someone had put a lot of love into this, for a man I loved so very much."
Best of luck to Niemi in her search for a second love!
