Sung Eun Grace Lee Right to Die Granted: Paralyzed Banker Suddenly Changes Mind To Stay on Life Support

Sung Eun Grace Lee fought against her religious parents for the right to die after she became paralyzed by a seizure and had to rely on a breathing tube to live.  She was diagnosed with a brain tumor last year and chemotherapy treatments were not successful in getting rid of the tumor.

Lee lost her will to live despite her parents' desire for her to fight on, and the New York Court of Appeals finally ruled that Lee's parents could not block her decision to be taken off life support.

Just one day after the appeal was made, Lee had a sudden change of heart.  Lee's lawyer David Smith said that Lee decided to remain on life support to make peace with her family and her God.

Prior to Lee's sudden decision to maintain her life support, she was constantly asking "that her breathing tube be removed" reported Daily Mail.

Lee's father is Rev. Man Ho Lee, the pastor of a church in Flushing, Queens.  Due to his strong Christian background, he was worried about his daughter going to hell if she died from cutting off the life support.

Lee said at a news conference on Friday, "When someone sets a date and time to die, that is suicide. And suicide is a sin."

The church supported and prayed for Lee throughout her illness believing that miracles could happen.  Some others have supported Lee in fighting for her own decision to live or die.

"She is in hell right now, free her so she can finally rest in peace," one internet user wrote.

"Poor Grace, she should not let others change her decision.  She wants to be set free from suffering, would she go to hell for that?" said another.

"Wow, I think the family must be going through so much, and Grace must have made the final decision out of deep love.  I don't want to judge them.  But hope the best for them. It's admirable that they believe in their God so absolutely.  For those who don't believe in God, it's hard to understand.  I believe in a creator and believe that His ways are much greater than ours," said another user.
