MStars News has learned that actor Harrison Ford is currently in the hospital after surviving a plane crash.

According to USA Today, Ford was flying his plane Thursday afternoon when it crashed on a golf course shortly after taking off from Santa Monica Airport.

Ford, who is a private pilot, noted that there was engine failure and wanted to return to the airport, according to his call with air-traffic contollers.

"Harrison was flying a WW2 vintage plane today which had engine trouble upon take off. He had no other choice but to make an emergency landing, which he did safely,'' Ford's publicist Ina Treciokas revealed.

"He was banged up and is in the hospital receiving medical care. The injuries sustained are not life threatening, and he is expected to make a full recovery," she stated.

"At the hospital. Dad is ok. Battered, but ok!" Ford's son, Ben, tweeted. "He is every bit the man you would think he is. He is an incredibly strong man."

Ben, a chef, also tweeted another comment that read: "Thank you all for your thoughts and good vibes for my dad."

Ford was taken care of by doctors playing golf on the course during his crash. According to ABC, one of the doctors present during the incident was spine surgeon Sanjay Khurana.

Khurana said that Ford "was stunned a bit," as he ran to the actor's aid. "He was moaning and in pain."

"It was obvious by his face, it was Harrison Ford. I'm old enough, or young enough, to have watched all his Star Wars films. So, it was obvious," Khurana told the site.
