[UPDATE] 'Fashion Police' Might Be Canceled Following Giuliana Rancic Zendaya Comment and Kelly Osbourne, Kathy Griffin Exits From E! Series

It's starting to look like Giuliana Rancic's days as one of the last remaining hosts on Fashion Police might be numbered. A source told the (New York) Daily News that E! executives are considering canceling the show in an attempt to "save their celebrity relationships." According to the source, Kathy Griffin's unexpected exit in response to Rancic's crude joke about Zendaya Coleman's dreadlocks at the Oscars may have been the last straw for Fashion Police producers already exhausted by the backlash.

The network reportedly released a statement saying that the show will "return as scheduled" and continue business as usual, but the source said E! is losing "patience."

Shortly after the incident with Zendaya at the Oscars, Kelly Osbourne left her post as Fashion Police co-host, followed by Griffin, who was originally hired to replace the late Joan Rivers. The show seemed to have been slowly dying since Osbourne quit and arguably since Rivers died, and with Rancic and Brad Goresky as the only two hosts left, Fashion Police could quickly implode.

According to the Daily News's source, Griffin may have revealed too much insider information on social media about her decision to leave the show, and Fashion Police might not be able to recover.

"Don't be surprised if they cancel it quietly in a matter of weeks, when the craziness dies down a little," the source said, adding that the show has become a "hassle" for prodcer Melissa Rivers, the late Joan Rivers's daughter. "She can't get control of the situation."

The insider also said that canceling may be the only way for the network to keep Griffin's celebrity supporters from "trashing" the show.

"Lena Dunham, Rosie O'Donnell and Jane Lynch all tweeted supporting Kathy. That's not good. E! can't survive without celebrity cooperation," the source said.

Unsurprisingly, even Rancic has reportedly had it with Fashion Police and would be "happy to go."

"Fashion Police is an albatross around her neck," the source said. "She's like, let the thing die already."
