Monday night (Oct. 22) is the final playoff game in the NLCS. The series has proved exciting thus far - the Cardinals and Giants are currently tied up at 3-3, with St .Louis snagging a Game 1 (6-4), Game 3 (3-1), and Game 4 (8-3) victory and San Francisco coming out on top of Game 2 (7-1), Game 5 (5-0) and Game 6 (6-1).
The Detroit Tigers swept the American League Championship Series (ALCS) against the New York Yankees, winnings Games 1-4 and earning an automatic ticket to the 2012 World Series.
The Cardinals are now looking for a NLCS victory in order to make it to the World Series for the second straight season in a row (they proved World Series champs against the Texas Rangers in Game 7 in 2011). The last time the Giants were in the World Series was in 2002 (they lost Game 7 against the L.A. Angels). And now the NLCS has made it to Game 7 - should be an exciting and nail-biting matchup.
San Francisco starting pitcher Matt Cain will face-off against St. Louis' Kyle Lohse.
The ballgame will be broadcasted on FOX, but for those fans who can't make it to a television, MLB.tv offers a postseason online game package for $24.99. Although no live stream, espn.go and Gamecast both offer great ballgame updates on scores and lineups.

The NLDS and ALDS both proved exciting this year, with all four playoff series making it up to the crucial Game 5. The Yankees, who ended their regular MLB season as AL East champs, won out over the Baltimore Orioles. The Detroit Tigers yo-yoed wins and losses with the Oakland Athletics, ultimately coming out victorious in the end. The San Francisco Giants battled it out with the Cincinnati Reds, winning Game 5 (6-4). The Cardinals finally ousted out the Nationals late Friday night, winning 9-7. The winner of the final NLCS game will then go on to play in the World Series which kicks off Wednesday, Oct. 24.
