Adrienne Bailon Honors Selena With 'I Could Fall in Love' Cover on Anniversary [WATCH]
Today marks the 20th anniversary of Selena's death and all of Hollywood is reaching out to honor the late singer's memory. One star who credits Selena for her career in the entertainment industry, Adrienne Bailon, paid tribute to the fallen star on today's episode of her talk show The Real. The former Cheetah Girls singer blew the audience away with a rendition of "I Could Fall in Love," including Selena's own sister Suzette Quintanilla.
According to E! News, this was the first time that Bailon has performer in over six years, but felt that the tribute was something she needed to do, as Selena was the reason that she started her career in music.
"My first songs were Selena," the singer explained to Suzette. "Thank you for giving me the honor."
In addition to Bailon paying tribute to the star, Jennifer Lopez, who took on the role of the Latina music star in the biopic, Selena, also opened up about the role model in an interview with Billboard on the anniversary of the star's death.
"There is never going to be another Selena," the American Idol judge explained. "And as far as music goes, that's what's beautiful about artistry... it's a special thing that Selena had. That's why we're still talking about her 20 years later."
J.LO also mentioned that it wasn't just her talent and artistry that resounds with her fans 20 years later, but it is also her integrity and poise that she is remembered for.
"The grace with which she handled the business, the grace with which she handed her life, the humor," the star explained. "Her spirit of loving what she did. Her sense of family. That's the tragedy of everything that happened and why she left such an imprint- because she was gone way too soon."
