A small earthquake hit New Jersey residents early Monday morning. Ringwood, N.J. was hit with an earthquake with the magnitude of 2.0 around 1:19 a.m. The community is still dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy with downed tress and power outages as some of the problems many face.

According to the Associated Press, Geophysicist Jessica Turner at the National Earthquake Information Center said people reported hearing a loud boom and those on the upper floors of their homes could feel shaking or see objects vibrating. The earthquake was said to be three miles below ground which could be felt in Mahwah, Wanaque, Oakland, Franklin Lakes, West Milford and Paterson.

This small quake isn't the first one to strike New Jersey. Turner said an earthquake with the magnitude of 2.2 had been recorded in February 2010. Luckily no major damage has been reported

Hurricane Sandy and the small earthquake may have passed but dropping temperatures could be a new problem for millions of residents. New Jersey Governor, Chris Christie said, "I can do lots of things, I can't change the weather."

More than two million people are stranded without power and with a new storm approaching it could lead to a greater problem. The storm should hit the middle of this week and many are trying to prepare for the bitter cold.
