Steven Moffat Teases 'Doctor Who' & 'Sherlock' Crossover Special?

Steven Moffat is responsible for two very popular British TV series that are pretty far from each other in terms of subject matter, but that might change according to a farfetched idea from the executive producer. There's already plenty of fan fiction about his two shows, Doctor Who and Sherlock, but what if Moffat got behind a crossover special episode of the BBC hits? In a recent interview while talking about the upcoming fourth season of Sherlock, Moffat opened up about making this rumor a reality, but admitted that it's simply an idea right now.

When asked by Entertainment Weekly about possibly considering a crossover event for his two very popular shows, Moffat explained that he likes to give in to his viewers.

"My instinct - and this is probably from years of doing Doctor Who - is I'm just such a tart. If people want to, we should give it to them," the writer replied, according to Slash Film. "But I got persuaded by [co-creator Mark Gatiss], Benedict, [executive producer Sue Vertue] and Martin saying, 'Look, it will never be as good as they think it's going to be,' and then I say, 'Yes, but we'll just bang it out and make it as good.' 'Yeah, but you can't give everybody everything they want all the time.' I'm in the camp of giving them everything they want. But I think they're sane and right and I'm just a tart."
