Michelle Duggar Hair: '19 Kids and Counting' Mom gets Makeover, from Long Mullet to Short and Sleek, 'I Love It!'

Michelle Duggar, mom and star of the hit TLC reality series "19 Kids and Counting," was treated to a 46th birthday surprise by the young (and large) Duggar clan which included a fashion makeover - specifically hair! Duggar finally shed her typical brunette mullet look for a sleek-and-straight layered do', and the popular real-life TV mom loves it! The mama of 19 admits to People that before the big b-day surprise, she hadn't changed her hairstyle in 40 years! But what's more important to Duggar - knowing that her kids do truly love and appreciate her after going through the trouble of pulling off such a sweet gift.

"I enjoyed the fact that my whole family and my girls came up with this amazing way of showing how much they loved me with a 24-hour birthday surprise," Duggar tells People. "Going from curly to totally straight was a shock for me," she goes on to admit, "but I am loving it and I have been doing both styles, curly and straight, since the cut." Goodbye poof, hello sexy!

Although at first hesitant, after discussing the potential new look with close gal pal Cindy, Duggar knew it was time to let the scissors do their job. "I can trust Cindy. But my back was to the mirror and I didn't know how much I got taken off. It was too funny when I realized how much was gone! And it felt so light."

And how does the rest of the Duggar clan enjoy the fresh look (including Michelle's longtime hubby, Jim Bob)?

"I know Jim Bob likes it long and I am trying to impress him - what he likes is what I want. I think he was a little shocked at first, it was so straight and so different. But he does like it. I think I shocked everyone at the [birthday] party. They were very surprised... Little Josie (the youngest Duggar, age 2) kept touching my hand and saying, 'Mommy? Mommy? Mommy?' She wanted to make sure I was still me."

As for Duggar, who cares for 19 children between the ages of 24 and two (along with two grandchildren), "I definitely like the new look. It has been fun."
