Memphitz Loses Defamation Suit Against Ex K. Michelle; Toya Wright's Estranged Husband Admits Abuse

Looks like K. Michelle won! MStars News has learned that Memphitz lost his defamation lawsuit againt the singer after he filed back in 2012, claiming that the singer was lying about alleged past abuse.

According to The Atlanta Journal, the Georgia lawsuit revealed that Wright wanted $15 million in "compensatory damages and $50 million in punitive damages" after he claimed K. Michelle was lying about the entire abuse story, causing him to lose money, by ruining his reputation.

Memphitz, who's now separated from his current wife Toya Wright, had to prove that the singer's allegations that he laid a hand of her were false as well as the story that aired on VH1. Memphitz also had to prove that the allegations were "injurious to his reputation and was published with a degree of fault at least amounting to negligence."

The Fulton County judge working the case, Robert McBurney, decided in favor of defendants K. Michelle and VH1's Mona Scott-Young.

If you're confused as to how VH1 was involved, let's explain. You see, K. Michelle was previously a part of the hit show Love & Hip Hop Atlanta, where she revealed on national TV that Memphitz abused her in the past.

The lawsuit explained it this way: "In general, the allegations were true, Wright is deemed a public figure as a former TV host and husband of singer and reality star Toya Wright and the production company exercised due diligence concerning Defendant Pate's domestic violence claims," the final court judgement read. "The record shows that they reasonably believed Defendant Pate during production of LHHA and that they still do today."

Memphitz admitted in depositions that he and K. Michelle got into a fight in 2009 and that he did spend some money from Jive Records to buy some jewelry. Memphitz also admitted to sending text messages threatening to kill the singer's son.

Details of K. Michelle's fight with Memphitz included the rapper admitting to smothering a pillow and his hands over her mouth to keep her quiet. K. Michelle recalled the incident, claiming Memphitz was trying to kill her.

The lawsuit revealed that Memphitz "tried to backtrack from his initial acknowledgments, according to a court filing by the defendants seeking summary judgment."

The lawsuit added, "Although K Michelle wasn't a defendant in the original case, she was added later. The other defendants are Viacom, which owns VH1, and the production companies NFGTV and Monami Entertainment."

It seems that everyone who thought K. Michelle was lying should apologize! MStars News previously reported that a mutual friend of Toya Wright and Tamar Braxton wanted the ladies to do the right thing and tell K. Michelle "sorry" for bullying her via social media on the entire drama.
