According to new reports, author E.L. James has decided to call upon her husband, Niall Leonard to write the sequel to the smash hit movie Fifty Shades of Grey. James' erotic book trilogy is receiving movie adaptations, so it seems like she wants to keep the scripts within her reach! Leonard, who is also an author, is an established writer for film and TV.

After news broke that the 2015 movie's screenwriter Kelly Marcel and director Sam Taylor-Johnson wouldn't be returning for the sequel, reports claimed that James was attempting to write the script herself. Perhaps settling on a close compromise, her husband will be penning the new script. He allegedly worked on the original script, but was not credited.

"Niall is an outstanding writer in his own right, with multiple established credits, and we are lucky to have him join Team Fifty," producer Michael De Luca said in a statement this week, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

CNN points out that this is the first piece of good news for the sequel to come about. Reports claim that stars Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan are allegedly negotiating for more money to do this sequel. This year's smash hit made around $569 million worldwide, so we assume more money will be offered.

With her husband taking the lead on this script, some are suggesting this is a very clear way of James having control over the sequel. The first film had a number of changes from her novel, but reviews have said that those changes were what made it a better film. We'll have to wait and see how much influence James has over her husband!
