CBS Comedy Head Wendi Trilling Leaving After 25 Years As David Letterman ‘Late Show’ Ends

It's the end of TWO eras for CBS, apparently. As everyone knows, comedian David Letterman will end out his famed Late Show series tomorrow, May 20, but there will also be another person leaving the network soon: Head of Comedy Wendi Trilling. The exec has reportedly been with the network for just about 25 years, and now she's stepping down this coming June.

Deadline reports that after a near quarter-century, Trilling has said, "...it's time to take a breath and look toward a new challenge."

Furthermore, she notes, "I have been beyond fortunate to work for an incomparable leader and creative force in Leslie Moonves, and to have had a boss and mentor like Nina Tassler."

The publication reports that Trilling has spearheaded a number of hit comedy series, 10 which have since gone on to syndication.

As far as who will replace Trilling remains to be seen but Deadline claims that CBS will reach out to its "executive branch."

On her departure, CBS Entertainment chairman Nina Tassler said, "Wendi is one of the most respected creative executives in our business."

Trilling started off working at CBS back in 1990 as a temp. She eventually worked her way up, being named the Manager of Comedy/Drama Series in 1992, Director of Comedy Development in 1994, VP in 1997, Comedy Development in 2000 and finally the EVP of Comedy Development in 2004.
