India Heat Wave Death Toll Passes 1,000 in 5 Weeks

It's being reported that a number larger than 1,000 people have died in the past five weeks in India as a result of a massive heat wave that is striking the country. In some areas, it's growing to be a reported 122 degrees Fahrenheit.

Per reports from the BBC, most of the deaths have taken place in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, with a supposed 1,118 people having lost their lives––since last week alone.

The publication claims that the temperatures are supposed to come down in the next few days but until then, things appear to be rather unbearable. The Huffington Post reports that monsoon rains are expected to arrive during the first week of June, which will hopefully bring some reprieve to a nation that has seen sweltering heat as of the past few weeks.
