A bearded Stephen Colbert – for a little while, at least – took to the Internet today to unveil his new website for the upcoming Late Show with Stephen Colbert, which premieres on Sept. 8. Along with that, the comedian took viewers through what life has been like since ending the Colbert Report back in December. Apparently it looks like he hasn't been up to much, other than growing that particularly badass beard. Which, sadly, he shaved off in the below video.

Oh, and he did donate $800,000 to South Carolina public school teachers last month. So, okay, maybe he's been doing a little bit more than growing a beard.

Naturally, getting rid of the facial hair that took the Internet by storm had to be treated as an event, and Colbert certainly did that, morphing his old fisherman-like look into a variety of other looks before completely saying goodbye to it. For example: Amish, the Un-Hitler, and of course, the half-Wolverine.

Which is your favorite? We'll have to go with the Un-Hitler. Though, really, that Amish look is pretty wonderful. Of course, this look is also a win:

So, the beard is gone, folks. Now we'll worry about the next thing—what's going on with that hair?
