Justin Bieber Sitcom: ABC to Develop Comedy Series Based on Pop Star's Life Story, Who will Play Selena Gomez? [VIDEO]
Reports allege that ABC is currently developing a new comedy series based on the life of teen pop megastar Justin Bieber. According to the latest gossip tabloids, the Biebs has already signed a script commitment with the popular television network for a single-camera comedy show. No word yet on whether or not a character will be based on Bieber's current girlfriend Selena Gomez, but the untitled series is described as a "family show" inspired by "the unconventional upbringing of a teenage music prodigy."
ABC Studios confirms that 18-year-old Bieber and his loyal manager Scooter Braun are already signed on as executive producers for the new comedy series. Matt Wolpert (who worked on "Entourage" and "My Name Is Earl") and Ben Nedivi (who worked on "Entourage" and "Wicked Little Things") are both set to write the script.
No details yet on the casting, but since Bieber is serving as executive producer he might be too busy to star as himself. Two adult actresses will also have to be cast in main roles, since the "Boyfriend" crooner was raised by his mother Patti Malette and his grandmother. The show will focus on Bieber's "awkward teenage years" and rather unorthodox upbringing before he hit worldwide stardom, so his sweetheart Gomez will probably not have a strong presence in the script (unless the head honchos over at ABC are looking to increase viewership with some boyfriend-girlfriend drama).
So what do Beliebers think - will you tune in to the new Bieber-based sitcom once it airs? And who do you think should star in the series?
In other Bieber news, the young pop star has recently addressed his 2013 Grammy nomination snub on the Ellen DeGeneres Show:
"[It's] a big bummer. It's definitely something I was looking forward to. But I know that it'll happen one day. I'm so young. I'm blessed to just be able to do what I love every day. The American Music Awards were a lot fun so hopefully one day."
A little less harsh than Braun's initial reaction on Twitter!
