50 Shades of Grey Movie Casting News UPDATE: Eddie Redmayne, Star of 'Les Miserables,' Admits 'Never Say Never' to Christian Grey Role [POLL]

According to recent "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie casting rumors, Eddie Redmayne is the latest celebrity heartthrob who admits he'd definitely consider taking on the lead role of Christian Grey in the film adaptation of E.L. James' hit erotica trilogy. In a recent interview with Marie Claire magazine, the 30-year-old British actor (who stars in the highly-anticipated film adaptation of "Les Miserables" alongside Anne Hathaway) claims he'd "never say never" if offered the chance to play Christian Grey. While Redmayne admits he has yet to read the series, he understands that it is indeed "very kinky" - which remains the film's overall main appeal!

When asked about the popularity surrounding the "Fifty Shades of Grey" film, Redmayne tells Marie Claire, "I know there's a huge amount of hype around it [the movie] so I definitely never say never. I've heard so much about this book I see people reading it on the tube and I'm always really impressed that they're reading it on the tube because it's kind of kinky... I'm thinking, 'What are you getting off on on the tube?' I've not read it myself."

So what do "Fifty Shades" enthusiasts think - would Redmayne fit the part of Christian Grey? His rather boyish looks might not coincide with the mysterious, dominant, tall dark and handsome description of Grey... but Redmayne is an up-and-coming actor who seems to have a lot going for him. Not only are critics already insisting "Les Miserables" has major Academy Award potential (and it hasn't even been released in theaters yet!) but Redmayne's portrayal of the aspiring filmmaker Colin Clark in the 2011 drama "My Week with Marilyn" had many viewers buzzing. Redmayne has also achieved a number of awards for his acting work, including the 2010 Tony Award for 'Best Featured Actor in a Play' for his performance in the West End and Broadway production of the hit drama play "Red." Taking on the racy role of Grey in "Fifty Shades of Grey" may just be that final boost that Redmayne needs to really launch his career - and producers may like the fact that he's still somewhat in the shadows of Hollywood (therefore not associated with any specific film or television genre). Not to mention Redmayne's a Brit, which might appeal to E.L. James herself!

Fun fact - Redmayne already has a very small connection to "Fifty Shades of Grey." In the novel, Grey gives Anastasia Steele first edition copies of the Thomas Hardy novel "Tess of the D'Urbervilles" as a gift. Redmayne actually starred as Angel Clare in a 2008 television mini-series based on that novel. Nothing major, but still something fun to think about.

Now that Eddie Redmayne's name has been mentioned in connection to the "Fifty Shades of Grey" film, fans can take Mstarz's updated poll!
