Adam Sandler AND Jim Carrey Dead? NO! Comedians Victims of Viral 'Snowboarding' Death Hoax on Twitter, Facebook AGAIN
The infamous celebrity death hoax strikes again... this time claiming two beloved actors/comedians, Adam Sandler and Jim Carrey. Unfortunately, this is not the first time that both funny guys have supposedly "died" in a tragic snowboarding accident... these bogus obituary reports have virally spread like wildfire on popular social networking sites likes Twitter and Facebook numerous times. Fans should always double-check reputable media/news outlets when such morbid death hoaxes strike... because these reports are totally FALSE. Sandler and Carrey are both alive and well, still going about their careers and daily routines.
These distasteful celebrity death hoaxes usually originate on popular prank websites, such as the Global Associated Press. Here is the bogus report about Sandler's death that has been heavily circulated on the web numerous times, claiming that the "Happy Gilmore" star died in a freak snowboarding accident:
"Actor Adam Sandler is reported to have died shortly after a snowboard accident earlier today - December 20, 2012. (Obviously the website generates false up-to-the-date deaths).
The actor & novice snowboarder was vacationing at the Zermatt ski resort in Zermatt, Switzerland with family and friends. Witnesses indicate that Adam Sandler lost control of his snowboard and struck a tree at a high rate of speed.
Adam Sandler was air lifted by ski patrol teams to a local hospital, however, it is believed that the actor died instantly from the impact of the crash. The actor was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and drugs and alcohol do not appear to have played any part in his death."
This simple, cryptic message also recently circulated on the web, insisting that Carrey died of an eerily similar accident:
"RIP Jim Carrey. He died today in a snow board accident after he hit a tree at high speed in Switzerland. Your movies will forever be remembered."
Although these fake reports both hit the web months ago, "Adam Sandler dead" and "Jim Carrey dead" are phrases that just recently started trending again on Twitter... fortunately, not many fans are falling for the prank this time around:
@LuckyMe_5811: "Jim Carrey isn't dead! They played me! Stupid Facebook."
@JakeGhent7: "Adam Sandler Death Hoax Regurgitated a Third Time--How Much More Can One Guy Take??"
@BooBear1st: "Why are people saying @JimCarrey is dead? He still tweets? But hopefully the management didn't tweet."
@_SteezySteve: "Okay I just feel the need to say this: Adam Sandler is not dead. It's a fake story. Google it. With that said, goodnight."
@TrinaCapone_: "Ole dude Jim Carrey ain't dead. Dude somewhere being goofy."
@NickTMcMillan: "Adam Sandler is NOT dead! stop sending me spam messages about this horrible fake tragedy."
Facebook helped to spread word of the morbid death hoaxes too:
A "R.I.P. Adam Sandler" page blatantly states, "He's still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the internet." The group still has over 79,000 followers and counting, and fans are still posting about Sandler's bogus demise:
Jayjay Duran: "Wow... got super scared seeing those RIP adam sandler s##t... i love u sandler im ur biggest fan..."
Kileki Nara: "Wow! People ARE retarded! I've only seen ONE person who said 'oh that was a cruel joke'... everyone's saying 'omg he's not dead.'"
Marsonette Williams: "Damn people stop lyin, Adam Sandler is not DEAD! He's a damn good actor and funny as hell. Let it go!"
Unfortunately the same goes for Carrey - one "R.I.P." Facebook page boasts almost 14,000 followers and states, "...Our beloved actor Jim Carrey passed away due to a fatal plane crash. Jim was born on January 17, 1962. He will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page." More Facebook fans are actually falling for the Carrey death hoax:
Nancy Tankersley: "May he RIP... Heart goes out to the family."
Matthew Voiland: "How do [so many] people like this? they should all R.I.P. delete this page you morbid f##k, as if our world doesn't have enough problems without f##k heads like you posting bull s##t about good people."
Junebugg Davis: "Speechless! U will be missed!"
Danielle Eilene Lucille Hager: "Lol I'm pretty sure this is fake..."
Shamere Luvinmygirls Pittman: "JIM CARRY IS NT DEAD ITS ANOTHER FAKE DEATH CELEBERITY SITUATION U CNT BELIEVE EVERYTHING U READ."
It's a sad fact that many celebs have fallen victim to the infamous internet death hoax, including Morgan Freeman, Channing Tatum, and Johnny Depp. All of these reports are fake. Fans should make sure that they get all their info from credible sources before going crazy on social media - spreading fake celebrity death rumors are exactly what the hoaxsters want!
