Rapper Lil Wayne has sent a sweet and heartfelt message to those affected by the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting that claimed the lives of 20 children and 6 women. The tragedy has made him reflective, taking him back to his 2007 arrest on gun charge.

The rapper opened up on his arrest in 2007, when the New York City Police Department charged him after they discovered he had .40 caliber pistol on him and also carried marijuana.

"Before I leave, I want to say you mentioned that in 2010, I was locked up for a weapon. If there was anything I could do in my life that I could ever change, it'd be that. Sandy Hook Elementary, my heart goes out to you," said the "Right Above It" singer. Wayne was speaking on "Jim Rome on Showtime," MTV News reported.

The show has Wayne, who was sporting a white T-shirt with "Sandy Hook Elementary" written on the left side of his chest speaking about his love for sports.

Wayne also gave compliments to sportsmen, Shaquille O'Neal and Deion Sanders making an effort in rap.

Wayne discussed his time in prison and thanked people who supported him. He also thanked Brett Favre, who is one of his favorite American football players.

"At the moment it meant more than a lot," Wayne said. "Because at that moment, you're looking for help from anywhere. You're looking for support from anywhere possible, so to hear Brett Favre say he's praying for me every night, man, that put a smile on my face for a long time. And to smile in that place, it's almost impossible."
