Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez Split after Mexico New Year's Fight: Biebs Talks Romantic Relationship Needs, 'Love, Patience' Outweigh 'Gifts'

Reports confirm that pop star Justin Bieber and former Disney starlet Selena Gomez have officially split up... again (this time over a mega-fight the couple had during their romantic New Year's Mexico getaway). Despite all of the young Hollywood romance drama, the Biebs recently discussed what it takes to treat a girl in a relationship... overall, love and patience far outweigh gifts and luxuries. For an 18-year-old dude, the "Boyfriend" crooner apparently knows how to speak the language of love pretty well... but is it enough to win back the heart of Gomez (for good)?

In an attempt to rekindle their struggling romance, the Biebs and Gomez jetted off to Mexico on Saturday, Dec. 29 in hopes of ringing in 2013 with a romantic night out on the beach. Several Twitter and Instagram photos insinuated that the mini-vaca was actually going quite well:

But according to a recent TMZ report, all that changed when the couple got into a massive argument on Sunday, Dec. 30. An inside source confirms, "The two of them flew to Mexico for New Year's Eve, but had a blow-out argument on December 30 and broke up. Selena left Mexico that same day and Justin left for L.A. on the 31st. They haven't seen each other since and she was never at the Four Seasons on New Year's Day."

These rumors follow the devastating news that paparazzo photographer Chris Guerra was struck by a car and killed in L.A. on New Year's Day after attempting to take some pics of Bieber's white Ferrari (read more on that here). TMZ initially reported that Guerra allegedly called friends before he was killed, claiming that he saw Selena's car in a nearby Four Seasons parking lot. But now sources close to Bieber confirm to TMZ that such reports can't be true because the duo actually split two days prior to the incident.

No word on what the major Mexico blowout was about, but Gomez did tweet these messages on New Year's:

@selenagomez: "Hope everyone had a fun safe night last night. Here's to a happy, healthy, successful 2013 for everyone. I love you guys!!"

And:

‏@selenagomez: "New beginnings. Fresh start. I love you all :)"

If that means a "fresh start" with or without Bieber remains to be seen.

In a recent Top of the Pops interview, Bieber explains what it takes to maintain a healthy, loving, and exciting relationship - "I can be kind and attentive and I have a lot of patience. I like to surprise my girlfriend with nice things, romantic trips, such as a picnic or something. For girls, it's more important to be loved than to constantly get great gifts."

Apparently the recent romantic trip to Mexico didn't work out so well for the Biebs... but do Mstarz fans think that the young duo will manage to kiss and make-up (again)? Bieber is an utmost gentleman and it seems he knows how to treat a lady well... but is he simply too young (and famous) to carry out such a serious relationship?
