Honey Boo Boo: Mama June Sets Up Trust Funds for Daughters, All TLC Earnings Saved for 'Brighter Future,' Thompsons Not Materialistic
"Redneck" beauty pageant queen wannabe Alana Thompson took the reality television world by storm this summer with TLC's hit show "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo." And thanks to wise financial planning mapped out by Mama June, Alana and her three sisters (plus baby niece Kaitlyn) will surely have a bright and prosperous future ahead of them. According to recent reports, the infamous reality TV mom siphons a majority of the Thompson's "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" earnings into trust funds for her daughters. June reveals to TMZ that the girls will only be able to access the funds for schooling or medical emergencies until they reach the age of 21... the Thompsons live comfortably, but most definitely aren't materialistic.
Mama June recently told TMZ, "I want my kids to look back and say, 'Mama played it smart. Not like those other reality TV people... TLC puts the money into the girls' trust accounts for me and then I get an e-mail telling me how much everyone gets."
The Thompsons allegedly earn between $15,000-20,000 per "Honey Boo Boo" episode... TLC recently aired the first of a three-part holiday special on Sunday, January 6 (where the crazy Southern fam celebrates Halloween with wacky costumes, hectic hayrides, and mayonnaise freak-outs). The patriarch of the Thompson clan has since decided to equally divided the show's earnings between Alana "Honey Boo Boo" (7), Lauryn (12), Jessica (15), Anna (18), and baby granddaughter Kaitlyn. According to June, she never even sees the money... TLC transfers the cash right to the girls' bank accounts.
Meanwhile, the family continues to live comfortably on (poppa) Sugarbear's income as a contractor. June swears that her girls are properly cared for but don't rely on materialistic things for happiness - "You're never gonna see me drive a Range Rover or a Mercedes... I'll drive one if someone else pays for it. Never gonna live above my means."
Be sure to catch the next Honey Boo Boo holiday special (Thanksgiving) on Sunday, January 13 at 9 p.m. ET on TLC.
