After learning last month that 19-year-old British actor Tom Holland has officially been cast as Peter Parker in the new Spider-Man reboot movie franchise from Sony and Marvel, this week we have even more casting news for you. According to reports, Oscar winner Marisa Tomei has been offered the role of Aunt May, the superhero's maternal figure in the comic book series. At 50 years old, Tomei is the youngest actress to land this role. Find out more about this casting news below!

We should also mention that Holland is the youngest actor to land this role, since he's not even in his twenties yet. If Tomei is indeed cast in the film, it appears Sony and Marvel have a system for casting: age!

According to Variety, this casting news isn't official yet, but studio insiders are pretty confident in the speculation. Neither Sony nor Marvel has responded to inquiries about this news, so we'll have to wait and see what actually happens (via UPROXX).

As Slash Film points out, Aunt May isn't exactly a Hollywood beauty like Tomei. We're sure some wardrobe and makeup can fix that, but is Tomei a good choice for this reboot? What are your thoughts on Tomei possibly taking on the role of Aunt May?

Let us know what you think of this great new casting news in the comments section below!

While we wait to hear the official announcement on Tomei's casting, let's check in with the new Spider-Man, Tom Holland!
