Britney Spears and Jason Trawick Split, End Engagement: Relationship too 'Exhausting,' Confidentiality Agreement keeps Breakup Mum

Reports confirm that pop star Britney Spears and her fiancé of just over one year Jason Trawick have split and therefore officially ended their engagement. The William Morris Endeavor Entertainment agent also recently resigned as Spears' co-conservator (which gave him authority to make decisions over the songstress' general well-being). Apparently, the relationship was getting too exhausting and frustrating for the couple (especially Trawick). Although the duo insists that they plan on remaining "great friends," details surrounding the breakup remain mum, considering Trawick signed a confidentiality agreement regarding his relationship with Spears back in April.

Rumors were confirmed that Spears was dating her agent Trawick back in May 2010... the couple then decided to end their professional relationship to focus on a romantic one. In December, 2012 they were engaged and Trawick became a co-conservator over the "Toxic" starlet alongside her father in April, 2012.

But apparently the couple both wanted "different things" from the relationship... the duo officially announced their mutual separation on Friday, January 11, 2013:

"Jason and I have decided to call off our engagement. I'll always adore him and we will remain great friends," Spears recently released in a statement while Trawick added that he will "love and cherish her and her boys and we will be close forever."

According to an inside source at People:

"There was no third party involved... Things haven't been ideal in their relationship for some time. There was a lot to work on before they could move forward and get married."

Another source adds:

"Britney had a lot of issues with Jason doing his own thing - in business and seeing his friends... In her perfect world he would have been home with her twenty-four/seven, so that was a point of contention; something they were always working on."

And the prospect of more kids seemed to be another deciding factor... one person close to the now ex-couple states:

"Britney wants to grow her family... Jason loves her boys [Sean (7) and Jayden (6)] but he is not in a place to have his own."

According to an insider for FOX411's Pop Tarts column, things have been on the rocks for quite some time...  "It has really been in-motion awhile. Jason has been very stressed and concerned for Britney and what she might do if he left... He is worried about her and really loved her, but it started to take a real toll on him. The burden of taking care instead of a partnership where she also takes care."

As licensed psychotherapist Stacy Kaiser explains - "Jason took on the role of 'parent' and Britney the role of 'child' when he agreed to conservatorship. This makes an uneven balance of power, typically kills intimacy and creates a dynamic of conflict in the relationship. Britney, due to her past mental health issues probably requires a great deal of walking on egg shells to keep her balanced. Anyone close to her would be afraid of triggering an episode like we have seen in the past. As great as Britney may be, any person needing to live under such a need to be cautious and worried would struggle."

Trawick (41) signed a non-disclosure, confidentiality agreement banning him from discussing his relationship with the 31-year-old Spears back in April. But he did recently hit up Twitter to let fans know that he's doing okay:

@jasontrawick: "I'm still alive. Been traveling to c family in ny and friends in Miami for the BSC bowl. Hope u are all well...Thanks for all your kind words. You guys/girls are wonderful. I truly appreciate it."

Meanwhile, Spears prepares to deal with her heartbreak (and the fact that she won't be returning to the "X-Factor") by focusing solely on her rekindled music career:

@britneyspears: "I'm seeing so much chatter about new music out there. Glad to see you're all paying attention ;) Lot of work to do in 2013! LETS GO!"

Trawick also relinquished his conservator rights over the "Baby One More Time" songstress following the split.... Superior Court Judge Reva Goetz received Trawick's resignation in L.A. on Friday and removed him from the conservatorship proceedings.
