'Woman in Gold' Actress, Dame Helen Mirren, Turns 70!
Veteran actress, Dame Helen Mirren, turned 70 today! What don't we love of the British lady? On her birthday, the media has been promoting just what they love about the Woman in Gold actress and what it all comes down to is this: a) she looks terrific and continues to star in action-packed, thriller roles and b) she has not only accepted the aging process with grace and dignity but welcomes it! Sunday Express reported her saying, "When you're young and beautiful, you're paranoid and miserable...I think the great advantage of getting older is that you let go of certain things." She's vivacious and fun and has been enjoying her time as an older human being. According to Today, she has mentioned a few times that she was always dedicated to her work and that she didn't regret not having children and "didn't feel the loss" of an experience.
Mirren is beyond successful and continues to star in all different types of films as well as appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in a skit as a magic mirror commenting on all sorts of saucy subjects including her views on Fifty Shades of Grey. She's also achieved so much by choosing the films that she's done. Huffington Post reports, "Mirren has won all three of acting's top awards. She won an Academy Award in 2007 for her role as Elizabeth II in The Queen, a Tony this year for The Audience, and several Emmys for her TV portrayal of Detective Jane Tennison on Prime Suspect."
Her most recent film, Woman in Gold, has received an enormous amount of press. Now, keep your eyes peeled for her two upcoming films... Eye in the Sky is a thriller "set in the world of remotely piloted aircraft warfare," according to IMDB, and is supposed to be released later this year. Trumbo follows the story of a Hollywood screenwriter in the 1940s and Dalton Trumbo, who was blacklisted in Hollywood for being a communist. It stars a slew of other well-known actors like Bryan Cranston, Diane Lane, Elle Fanning, Louis C.K. and John Goodman and it should be released in January of 2016.
