'House of Cards' Kevin Spacey Turns 56, Honorary Knighthood & Net Worth of $80 Million!
Kevin Spacey just turned 56 years old this weekend and the House of Cards star couldn't be more in his prime all the while receiving an honorary knighthood from Queen Elizabeth II. According to the Hollywood Reporter, "Spacey said he was 'honored and humbled' by the monarch's recognition and thanked Britons for supporting his work. 'I feel like an adopted son.'" Alongside Spacey, Van Morrison was also bestowed the same title in London.
"As an American citizen, [Spacey] will be able to wear the insignia of the award, but will not be called Sir Kevin," says Playbill. This won't be the first time an American has received this prestigious title. USA Today even notes that, "Quite a few Americans have been named honorary knights (presidents, generals, stars) over the decades, but only one American woman, Angelina Jolie, who was named a dame last year for her campaign to prevent sexual violence in war zones." However, although many know of the individuals in the entertainment industry who have received the award, a lot of the time the recipients of the award are usually those who "are not in the public eye" as well.
Spacey has always been known for his on-screen talents in films such as American Beauty, The Usual Suspects, Se7en, and K-Pax; to name a few, but ever since Netflix's House of Cards premiered in 2013, Spacey's worth has skyrocketed. His "net worth is estimated at $80 million, according to CelebrityNetWorth. The commercial and critical success surrounding his role in the Netflix original series House of Cards has earned him a spot on the list of Hollywood's highest-paid actors. His fans, however, know that Spacey earned his credibility - if not his fortune - long before streaming video was ever invented," says Gobankingrates.
Everything seems to be looking up for Spacey as if he wasn't doing well already. Keep watching him on House of Cards and check out his next film, Elvis and Nixon, to be released later this year!
