Teen Covered In Leeches: Matthew Allen Found After Missing For 2 Months, Tortured By Mosquitos And Leeches During Record Heatwave
A teenager was found alive in the bush lands of Australia covered in leech and mosquito bites all over his body. Matthew Allen, had been missing from two months and was found by two hikers who found the "disorientated man"
Police thought the worst when Allen hadn't taken his phone or even accessed money from his bank account. When finally found, Allen suffered severe, dehydration, weight loss, and exhaustion. The teen's legs and feet are suffering from gangrene caused by the leech and mosquito bites that he was emancipated from.
According to Sydney Morning Herald, Detective Acting Inspector Glyn Baker says, ''He was in such a poor state,'' the detective added, ''He was completely exhausted, completely dehydrated, suffered significant weight loss, somewhere up to 50%. He was suffering from partial blindness and he had leeches all over him.''
Officials believe there may be information that Allen is withholding and haven't spoken to him yet about his disappearance. The teenager has been taken to a nearby hospital and reconnected with his family.
According to ABC, Allen told Australian rescuers that he managed to survive off a drying creek bed's water. During his disappearance, Sydney went through a record heat wave with temperatures above 45 degrees Celsius.
