Jay Leno, Jimmy Kimmel Feud: Comedian Blames Low Ratings on ‘Live’ Host’s “Mean Streak”

Former Tonight Show host Jay Leno is busy pushing his new CNBC series Jay Leno's Garage, and while speaking with TV Insider, Leno had some not-so-nice things to say about Jimmy Kimmel Live host Jimmy Kimmel. In fact, it seems that he believes the former Man Show host to be mean, and blames Kimmel's low ratings on his "mean streak."

Leno appeared to be rather joyous in talking about the likes of current Late Night host Seth Meyers, Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon, and even upcoming Late Show lead Stephen Colbert, but when it came to Kimmel, well, he wasn't so nice.

The reason for Leno's alleged beef with Kimmel could largely be because back when the whole Jay Leno-Conan O'Brien debacle was going down – in which O'Brien hosted the Tonight Show for a very little time to low ratings, which resulted in Leno returning to host – Kimmel appeared on The Jay Leno Show via webcam and slammed the host for stealing the Tonight Show from Conan O'Brien.

On Kimmel, Leno said, "The most [important] thing you can have in doing a late-night show is kindness. Because the show makes you arrogant. I think that's Jimmy Kimmel's problem. I think he's a talented guy, I think he's funny. But he has a mean streak, and it comes across."

Leno continued to note that much of Kimmel's material is "mean-based," specificially citing a bit Kimmel does on Halloween, in which he takes candy from children and they cry.

"I think that's why he's not higher in the ratings."

Jay Leno's Garage has been going on for quite sometime on YouTube, but it comes to CNBC this fall.

What are your thoughts, folks? Does Jimmy Kimmel have a "mean streak"?
