Carmelo Anthony and his self-titled foundation hosted another successful Very Melo Weekend of fundraising in Puerto Rico. The NBA star was joined by some of his teammates on the New York Knicks, as well as family, friends, and other supporters to head down to the Central American country for a weekend of raising money to those in need. Anthony helps by giving back to the community in the country where his family originates. The weekend's activities involve a golf tournament, a celebrity softball game, a basketball court dedication and tons of parties for guests.

The website for the Carmelo Anthony Foundation describes the annual event, which has been held each year since 2012, as a “signature fund-raising event.” “Participants will not only experience a weekend to remember, the funds raised will be used to create a lifetime of memories for kids in under-served communities and help them to achieve their dreams,” describes the purpose of the weekend on the site. This year’s festivities were held at the luxurious St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort, with package prices going for as low as $4,000.

On top of fundraising and helping the community, the site also says the event “presents a great opportunity to establish a powerful presence and make critical connections with business leaders & key decision makers.” Anthony also captured a great moment from the weekend on his Instagram page.

Teammates of Carmelo Anthony also came all the way out to support him for the beneficial weekend, including Kristaps Porzingis, Langston Galloway, Jerian Grant, Kevin Seraphin, Kyle O’Quinn, Cleanthony Early, Lance Thomas, Lou Amundson, as well as staff members for the NBA squad. Many of the members on the Knicks this upcoming season are relatively new to the team, making this weekend a perfect way for the guys to bond and keep things positive before the season officially kicks off.
