Students at a California High School have launched a campaign to try and get Tom Hanks to attend their homecoming dance. The veteran Hollywood actor is wanted by Kerman High School to attend their annual homecoming ceremonies this year, as they have chosen their theme to be about his movies. So far, the campaign has already gone viral, with social media users pushing the group’s hashtag #TomHanks2KermanHighSchool in order to get the attention of the actor.

Assistant Principal, Margaret Nichols, spoke on the importance of the homecoming ceremonies to the town. "Our homecoming is huge. It's a small town, about 14,000 people. Homecoming is a huge event for our whole community so each year we pick a theme. This year it's Tom Hanks movies. And then everyone thought, 'Well, let's try to get him here,'” she said to ABC News.

She even said that he wouldn’t have to show up to the dance itself, but just acknowledge the school on social media. "Our pie in the sky dream would be for him to come be our Grand Marshal, but even a personal shout out on social media or a 15-second video would be great," said Nichols. "Just for him to acknowledge us, the kids would be so excited,” she continued.

Students even hung banners at the school, posting photos of them to social media in order to help spread the campaign. Even though the actor hasn’t responded publicly to Kerman High School students just yet, there is a good chance he may do something for the school. Hanks is well known to go all out for fans and those who comment on his work, and even treat complete strangers with some of the most memorable stories fans could imagine.

With any luck, Hanks will surprise students at the school, and maybe in full costume from one of his roles!
