In Season 3 of Arrow, Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) became the Black Canary in honor of her deceased sister Sara (Caity Lotz). But when the show returns for Season 4, things will be different for the characters, and we've got some spoilers on both sisters.

TVLine posted a full preview of Season 4 of Arrow, and they focused on Laurel and Sara as part of it. First, Laurel will fully embrace the Black Canary persona and will be an independent woman throughout the season.

"Having 'fully arrived as Black Canary' when the new season opens, Laurel will be focused on her work (at night and during the day), and not so much her personal life. Mericle tells us there's no plan to introduce a love interest for the unlucky-in-love gal. 'I think there’s some virtue in having a female character on the show who’s not necessarily involved with a man,' the EP explains. 'She has a lot of business to deal with in terms of her sister [Sara] and also finding a new relationship with Oliver now that Felicity is in the picture.... It’s more [about] her finding her place on the team.'"

Some fans were displeased with Laurel's character and her ascension to the Black Canary mantle in Season 3, but the writers have clearly taken the time to transform her, so let's follow her story through and see where it goes.

TVLine also explored the return of Sara Lance, who will come back as White Canary for the spinoff series DC's Legends of Tomorrow. As we know, Constantine (Matt Ryan) is linked to her resurrection, and now we know more details on that.

"He is somebody who has the ability to go into that other world and more or less find her," Mericle said. "You probably don’t have to work too hard to do the math on who’s closest to her, who loves her the most and who would be the most invested in having her [return]. Obviously, her family is first and foremost in that. What’s going to be interesting about it is that even when she comes back [sis Laurel and dad Lance] will have very different reactions to [her] presence."

So it seems like Laurel asks Constantine to use his powers to reach Sara and bring her back into the world of the living. This will undoubtedly have some consequences, but we'll have to wait and see what those are.
