Rihanna's Not Joining Taylor Swift Onstage: Is 'The Voice' Mentor Backing BFF Katy Perry?

Rihanna might be taking over the position that Taylor Swift had during the last season of The Voice as the overall mentor, but that is where the similarities between these two pop princesses stops. The "American Oxygen" singer explained that when it comes to Swift's tours, fans shouldn't be expecting her to pop up onstage anytime soon. We know that Rihanna and Katy Perry are besties and that Perry and Swift have an ongoing feud with each other that inspired the hit song, "Bad Blood," so it would only make sense for Rihanna to sit out any stage invitations from Swift.

Even though Swift has not have even extended a formal invite, according to Us Weekly, Rihanna has already said that she wouldn't take the former country singer up on her offer even if she did.

According to Harper's Bazaar, when asked by NME magazine if she would sing with Taylor onstage, the "Diamonds" songstress explained, "I don't think I would," adding "I just don't think it makes sense. I don't think our brands are the same: I don't think they match, I don't think our audiences are the same. In my mind, she's a role model; I'm not."

After praising Swift by calling her a role model, maybe it isn't the beef that she has with Perry that is keeping Rihanna from the stage. Maybe it really is the fact that their personas simply wouldn't mesh.

This isn't the first popular singer who has rejected the idea of being in Swift's "squad." Miley Cyrus also revealed in an interview with The New York Times that the clique just wasn't for her.

"I'm not trying to be in the squad," Cyrus explained. "None of my friends are famous and not because of any other reason than I just like real people who are living real lives, because I'm inspired by them."
