Awards season might have just gotten started with the Emmy Awards this past Sunday, but while we loved the glitz and glam of the red carpet, could there possibly be someone new hosting the extravaganza for the next awards show? While fans have grown to love former E! News star, Giuliana Rancic, giving her commentary and asking who our favorite stars are wearing, it is being speculated that Maria Menounos might be taking over Rancic's position when it comes to the next star-studded event. While we previously reported that Menounos just replaced Rancic as the host of E! News, it seems that she might not be happy just replacing her for that show and wants to replace her on the Live from the Red Carpet series.

Radar Online is reporting that Menounos is looking to edge Rancic out at the events and taking over the hosting duty there as well.

"Maria wasn't happy that she was going to be playing second fiddle to Giuliana and not doing the award shows is a sticking point," an insider explained to the news site. "Maria loves getting designer dresses on loan for doing the red carpets."

It is also being reported that Menounos is hoping that over time, Rancic will bow out of doing the awards shows and she'll be waiting in the wings to take up the job.

"Over time, [Maria] is hopeful that Giuliana won't want to continue to commute from Chicago to Los Angeles to do the award shows," an insider explained, adding, "Maria is very focused and determined to become a bigger brand and she thinks that includes hosting red carpet award events. She has told bosses she can be ready to go if Giuliana gets sick or delayed by traveling."

To make matters worse, Rancic isn't oblivious to all this, in fact, she apparently "knows Maria is gunning for her."

Yet, according to Us Weekly, the viewers didn't really warm up to Maria Menounos when she hosted the 2015 SAG Awards earlier this year, so Rancic's job might be safe... for now.
