Kyle Mooney Pope Francis Impression Offends Miley Cyrus ‘SNL’ Season Premiere Audience?

Last night's premiere of Saturday Night Live had a lot of memorable moments – from the show's Donald Trump opener to Hillary Clinton's cameo to Miley Cyrus' pretty wonderful host/musical guest job – but it was Kyle Mooney's impression of Pope Francis that took the show––IMO. Mooney appeared on Weekend Update as Pope Francis and delivered easily one of the funniest moments of the show. Sadly, the crowd appeared to not get it. Or, perhaps they were offended?

Of course, there's no confirmation that anyone was actually offended by Mooney's impression, but their silence was rather telling... and unnecessary.

Mooney stepped into Weekend Update in order to walk anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che through his visit to the United States. And while Washington D.C. and Philadelphia were good fun, apparently nothing was as great as the visit to New York City.

Calling D.C. "a little boring" and noting that Philly has some "cuties" and "good ass eats," the Papal admitted that NYC was "the tightest place to be" on his "dope" trip.

As mentioned, the Season 41 premiere of Saturday Night Live aired just last night, holding several moments that will spread across headlines today. Unfortunately, Mooney's Pope Francis impression probably won't be one of them.

Between Clinton playing a bartender to Kate McKinnon's impression of the Democratic hopeful and that pretty emotional performance of "Twinkle Song," we fear the impression of His Holiness won't be getting the talk it deserves.

Still, in the end, we want more of Kyle Mooney as Pope Francis. Just a thought.
