Alfonso Ribeiro is returning to Dancing With The Stars this week, as the former Fresh Prince star is set to host the dance competition show. The actor is set to temporarily replace of original host, Tom Bergeron, who will be missing tonight’s show due to his father’s health conditions. Ribeiro is set to co-host tonight’s competition alongside Erin Andrews.

Bergeron tweeted about his temporary leave on his Twitter account, letting fans know what was going on with regards to why he was missing an episode.

"I'll miss 2morrow's #dwts to be at my Dad's bedside. He's given me a lifetime of support. Time to return the favor," he tweeted to fans. He continued, "I'm on a plane reading all of your lovely tweets which I'll share with my Dad. They are deeply appreciated. Thank you."

Ribeiro has already been back on the show since winning the competition during its 19th season, as he was also a guest judge last week to help the lineup of judges out with giving out scores.

The Fresh Prince actor spoke on being crowned a champion, where he shared how special that moment was with his partner, Witney Carson.

"We've got a mirror-ball! Wild!" Ribeiro said. "When you want something for so long, it's just unbelievable when you finally get it. You never know if you'll ever get it and there have been many times where I said to myself, ‘This is never going to happen. I'm never going to do the show, they're never going to let me do it, and that's what it's going to be.' And then I got the phone call, and then four months later I got a mirror-ball!” he said of the big win.

There’s no word on whether Ribeiro will be considered as a permanent host for the show, but fans will continue to keep Bergeron and his father in their prayers until his return.
