Back by popular demand, Fox will premiere 6 all-new episodes of the iconic sci-fi/horror series. But was there an episode 7 of the revival of The X-Files, where paranormal investigators Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) discovered a "lost case?"

As we previously mentioned,13 years have passed since FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully were on the TV screen solving weird and supernatural cases. The reboot of Fox's popular sci-fi series continues with an all-new 6 episode arc. Not only are the leads back to reprise their iconic roles, creator Chris Carter will takeover as showrunner for the franchise that launched his and many other careers.

In an interview with TV Line, the Millennium creator dished that there was originally supposed to be 7 episodes all-together, but unfortunately, "It was almost about to happen. We were planning for it. The script was written. I even called people to find out if they were available to direct, and it just didn't happen."

So will this episode, which was meant to be a standalone, ever be seen by the immense fans, who had already gathered at the recent New York Comic Con, Carter then goes on to reveal, "I created an opportunity for two writers that I am close with to write a spec script line. If there are more X-Files to be made, certainly it will be one of those."

This means the episode will eventually see the light of day, depending on the ratings and if Fox orders another limited-run down the line. Crossing our fingers!
